What are the disadvantages to a vertical loading autoclave?

I have always been told that a vertical autoclave is not as good for sterilizing medical equipment as a horizontal autoclave. But I have never seen or worked with one. What are the drawbacks or disadvantages of using a vertical autoclave compared to a horizontal autoclave?
