I am piercing my own cartilage. what precautions should i take?

I already pierced my nose myself a year ago. It healed nicely and never got infected or anything. so now i'm goona give myself double cartilage piercing. i know to sterilize it and everything but are there any other precautions I should take? oh and if your goona answer saying i will paralyze my face. I think you should educate yourself and stop believing what other people say because that is NOT true.
