How to sterilize a needle.?

Ok.. so im going to get my first tat tomorrow. And its not a tattoo shop. Its a guy that does it around town really cheap. I know him very good!! He cleans his needles, but i want him to clean it in front of me. Should i ask him to clean it? Or what are some stuff that i can give him to clean it with?? Plz help
