SOME GOOD COLLEGES IN THE SOUTH. help please?

im from new york and im thinking about going to school in the south to get a different experience than the east coast boston, uconn, etc. i like vanderbilt and emory, so south, but not as southwest as texas. i have a pretty good 3.1/3.2 GPA with college and honors courses and go to a really rigorous college prep school-- suggestions would be great! thanks!
