Should I get my ears pierced?

I had my ears pierced before when I was like 9. Then I found a huge bloody scab behind my ear from them. It hurt! BAD! I know getting the earrings in doesn't hurt a lot. But when I had them it hurt to take them out and put new ones in. Maybe the earrings I put in weren't sterilized enough and irritated my ears. And maybe I didn't clean my ears enough with the starting earring cleaner stuff and didn't spin them enough. Please give me some advice on what I should do. My holes closed up so now I'm confuzzled! (confused and puzzled combined)
