How to sterilize a needle?

Ok so im getting my first tattoo tomorrow and its not a tattoo is just a 24 year old that does them cheap arond town. he is giving me a tattoo. I wanna make sure he sterilizes the needle should i ask him to do it in front of me? What are some stuff that you can use to sterilize a needle?
