Can I change my nose stud?

I just pierced my nose a couple days ago, and I only had one nose ring at the time and it's a flower and I want to put this normal stud in. I've been cleaning it and everything since I pierced it, and the new one I got is surgical steel. If I sterilized it and everything would it be okay to change it real quick?
